Welcome to the home of the Physimals

We are a research group in the Precision Imaging Beacon and part of the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre in the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. We are an interdisciplinary team who use medical imaging technology to make measurements of physiological processes when and where they happen in the human body.

The Physimals develop and use image analysis methods to exploit the information contained in medical imaging data to probe physiogical processes happening in the living body. (see Research).

We work closely with collaborators in image acquisition in the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, in applications to the fundamental understanding of health and disease with a range of groups across the university and beyond, as well as in clinical applications of physiological imaging to improve patient care, including through the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre.

We are located at the University of Nottingham, the birthplace of MRI. We have a number of national and international collaborations and strong links with the Analysis and Physics groups at the WIN Centre, University of Oxford.

We are grateful for funding from the University of Nottingham and the Precision Imaging Beacon, the Wellcome Trust, and the UKRI.
